Three-Tier Architecture
Oracle EBS R12 follows a three-tier architecture: Desktop Client (browser), Application Tier (web and forms servers), and Database Tier (Oracle Database). The application tier runs on Oracle WebLogic Server and includes components like Oracle HTTP Server, Forms Server, and Concurrent Processing Server.
Application Technology Stack
The EBS technology stack includes Oracle Database 19c, Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c, Oracle Forms 12c, Oracle Reports 12c, and Java EE components. The application uses Oracle Applications Framework (OAF) for web-based self-service pages and Oracle Forms for traditional forms-based interfaces.
Concurrent Processing
Concurrent Processing is the backbone of EBS batch processing. Concurrent Programs are executable units (PL/SQL, SQL*Loader, Java, Shell scripts) that run in the background. They are managed by the Concurrent Manager, which handles scheduling, resource allocation, and execution priorities.
Integration Methods
EBS provides multiple integration options: Oracle Integration Repository (iRep) for web services, Open Interface Tables for batch data loading, Business Events for event-driven integration, and XML Gateway for document exchange. SOA Gateway exposes EBS interfaces as SOAP and REST web services.
